Stompin' Tom to Auction off his stompin' board for "The Jerry Love Children's Fund"
In accordance with a wonderful touring ritual, Stompin' Tom Connors will be auctioning off his stompin' board for charity. The auction for the board will take place at his show on Thursday, June 27 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. All proceeds from the auction will go to "The Jerry Love Children's Fund" which supports underprivileged kids allowing them to participate in all kids recreational programs offered by the City of Mississauga including summer camps.
Mayor Hazel McCallion (the Honourable Mayor of Mississauga) comments, "The City of Mississauga is proud to be hosting Canadian icon Stompin' Tom at the Hershey Centre and extremely pleased that he has chosen 'The Jerry Love Fund' as the local charity to receive proceeds from the auction of his legendary stompin' board following his performance. We look forward to an entertaining and rewarding evening!"
Past stompin' board auctions have seen him raise as much as $15,000 for charities such as "Project Warmth," "The Daily Bread Food Bank" and "Habitat for Humanity."
Stompin' Tom Connors' most recent release is An Ode For The Road. The album is a joy from start to finish as it takes you on a journey across Canada through the eyes of Stompin' Tom himself. Songs like "Saint John Blues" and "Peterborough Postman" undoubtedly touch the hearts of all Canadians.
Stompin' Tom's Ode for the Road tour closes on July 3 in Guelph. The two-month tour has seen Stompin' Tom journey through Ontario, the Maritimes and Montreal. He has received numerous accolades along the way including an honorary degree from the University of P.E.I. He is undeniably Canadian, and his desire to give back to Canadians is indicative of why we treat him with such reverence, and rightfully so.
